  1. Lack of correlation between creative and practical and academic skills? Yes.Definately.
Definition of Creativity as both novel and useful? Mmm creativity can exist for its own inherent self fulfilling joy.

Yes! Knowledge devolution occurs when entrenched ideas of intelligence such as psychometrics, IQ, literacy etc hold human potential to finite measurement. Where is the creativity in testing? Conventional tests are ill equipped for the multidimensionality that humans exhibit in every culture. Tests drive curricular yes! Researcher’s tests and desire for academic funding drive outcomes too! Yes testers too are forgetting about the people to whom they are responsible-the children.

Both Jung and Sternberg agree on creativity as the novel generation of original ideas and the analytical evaluation of these ideas in order to selectively manifest the best.

I would define creativity as a universal (consciousness) that responds to our individualisd consciousness manifesting (organising matter) according to our gaze, focus, attention, intention or will.

Creativity in education and industry? Fold the 3r’s into a creative curriculum whereby students follow their passions across a multi disciplined curricular using collaborative multi media, global, inquiry based, problem solving to locate open ended discoveries about real life outwith schools.

Yes dont wait youth are taking risks right now- technology itself rewards risk!

I am so glad you cannot measure wisdom. That’ s the antithesis of wisdom in itself.

Drop intelligence and standardised testing and value each persons innate intelligence, this will free children and adults to bring left of field solutions to global, local contemporary life!

  2. Ruth sorry for the delay in approving your comment, and thanks. Just one thing:

The “requirement” that creativity be novel and useful has a rationale that is long standing and comes from the research and study of creativity in Psychology.

It doesn’t refer to the motivation of the creator, per se. The requirement of “useful” exists to distinguish between the random “creations” of, let’s say, a schizophrenic and the “creations” of a Van Gogh, or a Da Vinci.

It’s a bit arcane, but it IS important to have that particular distinction in the field of creativity.

…it’s an incredibly complex field. I only understand a few of the issues, from my study and involvement a long time ago.
