Time for an update on the TRDEV forum (training and development) currently hosted at yahoogroups. First, the number and quality of posts continues to fall from previous years. There is a tendency for people on discussion lists, and in regular discussions and meetings, to have an agenda or position, and truck it out when ever possible. Here’s a little satiric humor on the subject.

Traditionally, the CTI or Training Ideas Discussion Group has been run differently than other discussions, because it is almost totally controlled by one person, the list owner, AND it’s a completely moderated group. That means each message must be approved by the list owner (or designate) before it appears.

So, what’s up on the the training and development discussion list? First a summary. There were 224 messages posted in April, which is an all time low for the month of April. I was banned, although apparently it’s a secret as much is on the list.

While trdev and hrnet are losing ground, the Grp-Facl list (about facilitation) has actually done very well in comparision, with an increased level of posting from last year. It’s not surprising why. This is probably THE model of a self-regulated discussion group with minimal rules, and high quality participation, with a phenomenal leader in Sandor [...]

Sadly HRNET has continued its descent into invisibility, with only ten posts for the entire month of April, 2008. So, basically there’s nothing much to report, except that even among those 10 posts, there was zero discussion of any issue.
