Some Discussion List Humor, also applies to meetings, workplace

There is a tendency for people on discussion lists, and in regular discussions and meetings, to have an agenda or position, and truck it out when ever possible. Here’s a little satiric humor on the subject.

Paula I hope you get an answer, but I just can’t resist anticipating
what responses you might get from the various mavens on the list,
meant mostly in good fun.

Here are some likely responses.

From Robert Bacal: I don’t know the answer, but what I can tell you is you should ignore the responses you get from the other people, because they probably don’t like driving, don’t understand basic concepts like gasoline, and generally don’t get out much. OH, and read my book, the complete idiots guide to everything.

From Fred Nichols.: O heck, just scrap it. Scrap the FLSA, and I think travel is over-rated, so you probably should scrap that too. It’s never used right, and people drive too slowly. No travel. Never. Uh-Uh. Never seen it work. Scrap those meetings too. Waste of time.

From Gary Lear: Well, you know if you looked at employee engagement, you wouldn’t have to worry, because employees would be so excited to travel that they could actually fly on gossamer wings and wouldn’t need to drive. But, also isn’t driving a command and control thing? Recent Gallup survey said that drivers going to company meetings actually don’t even want to be paid, but because they are engaged will do it for love.

From Bob Gately: Have you considered you might be hiring the wrong people? Job fit will help you hire people that will joyfully drive 24 hours to arrive at the meeting, or at least have the physical endurance to run to the meeting, thereby negating the need to deal with travel expenses. Hire the right people using my xzy assessment,  and all you need to do is give them gatorade.

And lastly from Doug Wagoner: Holy Crap! Waddia think this is a commie state…aren’t we all fed up with government regulations, let them pay their own way..haven’t we learned from Russia? Let’s stop the commie state legislatures from making up more lame laws.

Bet you have one of these at your meetings, yes?
