Training Ideas (CTI) Updates April, 2008
Traditionally, the CTI or Training Ideas Discussion Group has been run differently than other discussions, because it is almost totally controlled by one person, the list owner, AND it’s a completely moderated group. That means each message must be approved by the list owner (or designate) before it appears.
This also means that if, for whatever reason the list owner is not available to approve messages, everything stops. Also, because the list is heavily controlled/censored, the content is often disjointed and dialogue is hard to follow.
There is also a tendency for messages to appear on CTI (training ideas) that are harvested from other lists, and written by people not actually on CTI. Though that seems to be happening less.
April looked like a standard month with discussion on strategic thinking activities, crisis leadership, being the most interesting. Like most months a few people post rather philosophical, but rather sophomoric material that probably would appeal to those into “spiritual” things on a superficial level. Mostly the topics aren’t meaty enough, or discussion connected enough, due to the control issue, to expect much depth.
Now, the question you may want or need to have answered is: What happened to Training Ideas around the end of the month?
Everything came to a standstill (see above about moderation and approval), but the thing that is slightly disturbing is the list owner’s sudden disappearance from his Ebay store, which went away about April 29, 2008, in the middle of a fair amount of ongoing business. (It appears the owner was trying to make a living that way).
In any event, the owner seems awol, hopefully from choice rather than necessity, illness, incarceration, etc, and that’s about what anyone knows. So, until he returns or someone can approve messages, the list is rather deceased.
